Problem: Madelung with Screened Potential

 

Calculate the Madelung constant M for a linear chain numerically and analytically. With a personal computer, calculate M for the NaCl crystal by using the ``screened Coulomb" potential tex2html_wrap_inline5773 e tex2html_wrap_inline5775 . Discuss what happens in the tex2html_wrap_inline5777 limit.
